I gave Borderlands (2024) a chance… you shouldn’t!

Right so let’s keep this short: as everyone has already told you, the Borderlands movie is bad. It’s very poorly written, there is less ‘plot’ than there are scenes strung together, and the action that does exist isn’t satisfying enough to entertain on it’s own. The locations look pretty good and the claptrap robot looks great. That’s about it. Some of the costumes are good: the crazy half-naked guys with masks look pretty much like the game, I guess. The big red wig of Lilith was distracting.

Now listen… A movie doesn’t have to have an immaculate plot for me to love it. I recently gave Deadpool and Wolverine a 10/10. But it was entertaining! This isn’t entertaining: the jokes don’t land at all for me, the characters aren’t interesting and the plot doesn’t even hold together. 2/10.

For fans or new people?

I’d never played the games this was loosely inspired by nor do I know anything about them. But I don’t believe there would be anything for fans here as they changed a lot.

The world as presented isn’t interesting enough for new people. Another dystopian sci-fi world with the core mystery solved by the end of this movie.

Is it worth seeing in cinemas?

Don’t go to the cinema for this unless you really get a kick out of bad movies. I…
